Some programs are limited to small group participation and require pre-registration, such as “Seine The Sound,” “Crabby Clinic,” “Kayaking,” “Birding on the Sound,” and “Go Fly a Kite.” The most popular program is “Sunset on the Ridge,” held nearly every evening during summer months at the top of the ridge.

Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve

A 1,400-acre maritime forest, with five miles of trails and a visitor center. The preserve is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday during the summer. Register at the visitor center.

The Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education offers numerous education programs on a daily basis. Group programs and school programs can also be scheduled. The center contains an auditorium, exhibit gallery and gift store. The exhibit area focuses on the natural and cultural history of northeastern North Carolina.
